Montserrat Arista Palmero. University of Seville

She holds a PhD in Biology (1993) and is Professor of Botany (2015) in the Department of Plant Biology and Ecology of the University of Seville. Her lines of research are: reproduction systems of gymnosperms and angiosperms, evolution of floral characters of angiosperms, plant-animal interactions, and conservation. She has been principal investigator of 12 competitive projects of state, regional, and European calls. She actively collaborates with foreign researchers in research projects on biodiversity and pollinator-plant interaction.

She has published 120 articles, books or book chapters, of which 70 were in journals collected in the JCR. She has also participated in the work Flora iberica and in the files of the red books of the threatened species of Andalusia. She has directed 8 doctoral theses and currently directs three others. She is an article evaluator of numerous scientific journals and an associate editor of the journal Plant Biology. She regularly participates in scientific dissemination activities such as the programs “Café con Ciencia” of the University of Seville, “Window to Science” of the Junta de Andalucía or The European Night of the researchers of the European Union. She is a scientific director of the General Herbarium Service of the University of Seville and since February 2021 she is Director of the General Research Services of the University of Seville.
