Ana Vicente Lasa

She holds a degree in Biotechnology (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia), a Master in Research and Advances in Microbiology (Universidad de Granada) and a PhD in Fundamental Biology and Systems (Universidad de Granada). She works at the Zaidín Experimental Station (EEZ, CSIC, Granada). Her area of work focuses on the microbial ecology of woody species. It taxonomically identifies the microorganisms (fungi and bacteria) that inhabit the rhizosphere and root endosphere of decaying pines (Pinus sylvestris and P. pinaster), and based on this I compare the microbial communities of healthy and diseased pines. This will enable it to determine whether any microorganism is involved in the adaptive process of healthy pines to the effects of climate change, and to determine whether there is any pathogenic microorganism associated with the root of diseased pines that contributes to the decay process.
