Inés Álvarez Fernández

She obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2000 and is a senior scientist at the Royal Botanical Garden (RJB-CSIC) since 2006, where she is part of the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation and the research group “Evolutionary Biology of Plants: patterns, processes and mechanisms”. Her training focuses on Botany and begins with biodiversity catalogs (Floras) in a pre-doctoral stage. During her thesis she trained in Systematics and phylogenetic inference and in her postdoctoral stage she delved into aspects of Evolutionary Biology focused on the understanding of biodiversity in angiosperms, mainly in the Mediterranean region.
