He is a Biologist, Master in Applied Statistics and Doctor in Biology (UGR). He currently works in the Service of Evaluation, Restoration and Protection of Mediterranean Agrosystems (SERPAM) at the Zaidín Experimental Station (CSIC). He has previously worked in the Ecology Laboratory of the IISTA University of Granada for more than 12 years, where he has participated in 9 research projects related to monitoring the effects of global change on Mediterranean ecosystems and especially on mountain ecosystems. His research has focused on the analysis of the effects of global change on mountain forest ecosystems. He has a high experience in the analysis of ecological data, and especially in the treatment of satellite images, including analysis of time series of vegetation indices (NDVI, EVI) or severity of burns (NBR), among others. He also has a high level of computer knowledge and R programming, having developed several packages related to the visualization and analysis of ecological data. He is the author of 54 publications (29 articles, 7 books, 19 book chapters), as well as various information management and visualization tools. Currently, SERPAM conducts, among others, satellite image analysis to establish the effects of prescribed burns and pyric herbivorism on Mediterranean silvopastoral systems.
