Mª Concepción Alonso Menéndez

She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences. She works at the Donana Biological Station in the Plant-Animal Interactions Group, in Plant Evolutionary Ecology. Her scientific research is developed within a general line of Ecology and evolution of plant-animal interactions, which studies these interactions as an engine of adaptation and plant evolution. Fundamentally she has been interested in the interactions with pollinators (mutualism) and with herbivores (antagonism) that occur in Mediterranean mountain ecosystems, so much of my research is linked to the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, which represents very well the complexity and richness of these ecosystems. Her current research combines field and greenhouse studies, with phenotypic and molecular analyses both chemical and (epi)genetic and develops around two fundamental lines: (i) Pollination and indirect interactions; (ii) Ecological epigenetics.
